Annette Kelsey
Annette Kelsey is an Australian artist and poet whose work reflects a deep connection to nature and a commitment to simplicity and stillness. Based in Lake Macquarie, New South Wales, she has recently returned to oil painting after specialising in watercolour for over 30 years. Her art is characterised by soft edges, subtle blends of colour, and a focus on creating space within the composition, allowing the viewer to experience a sense of calm and reflection.
Kelsey's work often explores themes of nature's beauty and the human experience, with a particular emphasis on the interplay light and space. She believes that "space is the breath of art," a concept inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, and strives to incorporate this philosophy into her paintings.
In addition to her visual art, Kelsey is also a poet. She has published a book titled 52, which features a poem for each week of the year, accompanied by her watercolour paintings. The book is bound in natural linen and printed on deluxe art paper, capturing moments in time, feelings of hope, and the beauty of nature.
