Gwen Scott
Gwen Scott is an Australian artist and printmaker renowned for her vibrant and intricate reduction linocut prints. Living on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, she works from her home studio, producing original limited edition prints that often incorporate elements of classical mythology, the human form, animals, gardens, landscapes, and the everyday.
Scott's artistic practice is characterised by her use of the reduction technique, where multiple layers of linoleum are carved and printed in succession to create richly textured and colourful images. She employs high-quality materials, including 100% cotton rag paper, oil-based inks, and quality linoleum, ensuring each piece is meticulously hand-cut and hand-pulled.
Her work has been featured in numerous solo exhibitions and group shows across Australia, as well as in international print exchanges. Scott has received several awards for her reduction linocut prints and her work is held in both public and private collections in Australia and abroad.
In addition to her printmaking, Scott also creates gouache paintings and drawings, further exploring themes of mythology, nature, and the human experience.
