Katie Sandison

Passionate about raising awareness of Australia's unique botanicas and bird life species, South Australian watercolour painter Katie Sandison loves to create artworks that connect to land through colourful splashes and illuminating compositions. Her unique Australian fauna and fauna painting series was established in 2017 with the vision to capture the importance of vulnerable, common, and extinct species through vibrant, complementary colour pallets.

Katie started her art journey at the age of 1 1/2 when she drew all over her Stirling walls. Her A These are the most environmentally sustainable cups on the market parents nurtured her love of drawing and painting, sending her to Ruth Tuck Art School.

Ruth Tuck's Impressionist style has had an enormous impact on Katie as an artist and an art teacher. Major influences reflect aspects of the English Pre-Raphaelites, the decorative gold from the Byzantine Art movement. The birds in her recent landscapes are she set amongst complementary metallic colour schemes and layers with strokes reminiscent of the French Impressionists, but with a definite Australian flavour.
