Lucy Timbrell

Lucy Timbrell is an Adelaide-based printmaker whose vibrant linocut artworks explore the intricate relationships between humans, animals, and nature. Graduating from the Adelaide College of the Arts in 2012, she has since developed a distinctive style that blends stylised imagery with mythological and symbolic elements.

Timbrell's work is characterised by bold, hand-carved linocuts that are often hand-coloured and embossed. Her subjects frequently include native Australian birds, cityscapes, and other natural motifs, reflecting her deep connection to the environment. Notable series such as the Native Bird Series showcase her ability to capture the essence of local wildlife through dynamic compositions and rich colour palettes.

Beyond her personal artistic practice, Timbrell is dedicated to education and community engagement. She teaches printmaking at the Ruth Tuck Art School and conducts workshops at various schools and art institutions, including the Murray Bridge Regional Gallery. Her commitment to nurturing creativity in others complements her artistic endeavors.

Timbrell's work has been featured in several exhibitions, including the Waterhouse Natural History Art Exhibition and Printfest 2025, highlighting her ongoing contribution to the Australian art scene.
