Dulcie Long Pula is an Anmatyerre artist from the Utopia region in the Northern Territory, born in 1979 at Boundary Bore Outstation. The daughter of renowned artist Jeannie Petyarre and relative of the famous Petyarre and Pwerle sisters, Dulcie continues her family’s rich artistic tradition. Her paintings depict the Bush Yam Leaves Dreaming, a story about women’s ceremony and the desert yam plant, an important food source. Using delicate brushwork, fine dots, and flowing patterns, she creates rhythmic compositions that capture the movement of leaves and the spirit of country. Dulcie’s vibrant works honour her heritage while showcasing her own contemporary style within Utopia’s celebrated art movement.
