Katie Sandison

The ‘Flora and Fauna Australiana series’ is a vibrant representation of the local native environment of Brownhill creek and the historic village of Mitcham. The main inspirations stem directly from South Australian organic forms, endangered species, animals and birds. Through artistic conventions that include colour contrasts and fluro light sources, these natural narratives radiate from the plywood surface which the paint is splashed upon.

To capture the essence of beautiful forms within the natural world macro or micro, in order to engage and inspire an audience is a wonderful thing for an artist to see.
